Red flags when hiring creators for an AI launch
Eight warning signs to check before paying creators or a creator agency to announce an AI product, from guaranteed virality to missing disclosure.
What are the red flags when hiring creators for a launch?
Be careful with guaranteed views or virality, pricing based only on follower counts, no original posts you can verify, identical scripts across accounts, creators who will not try the product, no paid partnership disclosure, reports that present views as customers and partners who cannot introduce you to the creators they represent.
Promises that cannot be kept
Guaranteed virality or a fixed number of customers. Nobody controls how a platform distributes a post or how an audience reacts. A partner who promises outcomes is either guessing or planning to report them creatively.
Pricing by follower count alone. Followers are a stock, attention is a flow. Ask for recent original posts and how they performed, and verify them yourself on the platform.
Signs the relationship is thin
The partner cannot put you in direct contact with the creators. Every creator receives the same script. Nobody asks for product access before posting. These are signs of a list, not a community, and audiences notice copy-paste launches.
No creator has ever declined a product. A network where everyone accepts everything is not filtering for fit, which means it is not protecting your launch either.
Problems with honesty and measurement
Paid posts without disclosure. Consumer protection guidance and platform rules expect material connections to be clear; hiding them puts the brand and the creators at risk.
Reports that convert views into customers, or show screenshots without links. Ask for original post links, the reporting date and separately measured product actions. A careful partner states what it cannot attribute.
